Watches brought the two of us together. A chance encounter became a friendship and, over a year of conversations, a shared ambition. We kept returning to the thought of making something of our own. Sado began when we decided to give that thought our time.

For us, Sado, written 斯道, speaks of the discipline, practice and craft of a chosen field. We were drawn to the idea of learning through doing. The name connects our interest in watches with the patient work of understanding how to make them well.

There is something deeply fulfilling in taking an idea seriously enough to make it real. The work asks us to question our judgment and to try again when a result falls short. With each revision, we learn a little more about the watch and about ourselves. We want that care to remain present long after the first idea has taken shape.

Korea is at the heart of Sado’s identity. It is part of the culture and perspective we bring to our watches, alongside the different experiences that brought us together. We hope that influence will be felt naturally, in objects that people can make part of their own lives.

Our hope is to make watches that are useful, considered and worth returning to every day. We are still at the beginning, with much to learn and trust to earn through our work. If the time we spend on Sado becomes something another person enjoys wearing, it will have been time well spent.
